What makes me different?
My absolute passion for making brands better. Particularly the small ones. I just love the underdog.
Why Me?
Because I’m not your traditional tech-head or ‘Social Media Guru’. I am by accident (and design) different. I am, and have always been, a creative problem solver. It is the thread that has run, and continues to run, through my life, irrespective of position of employment. I am not a Writer, although I can write. I am not a Photographer, although I can take photographs. I am not a Marketer or Strategist, although I can think in terms of segments, commerciality and budgets. I am not a Designer, although I have a good feel for composition, colour and feeling. I am not a Lawyer, although I can anticipate the good and bad of action and inaction. I am not a Dancer, although I can…well actually…no, I can’t dance. I think you get where I am going with this.
What are my qualifications?
Does it matter that I graduated from the University of Melbourne with degrees in both Law and Commerce? Well if it does, you now know.
What I value more (and what were a lot harder to obtain) are my years of experience as a struggling creative. There can be no better way to develop your ability to think differently than by not having the money to do things traditionally. I am a person motivated by difficulty. A person driven by the challenge of doing something new: of thinking outside traditional bounds. I operate best when under pressure and see good ideas in bad, and vice versa.
So what does this all mean to you?
Well if you are looking for a traditional consultant, who’ll run a workshop or provide a boilerplate strategy document with little interest in what results or how either are going to solve the problem being faced by you and your business, then I’m not the man for you.
However if you’re looking for a consultant who can absorb and understand strategic direction and intention, and can, when necessary, just think out loud, both visually and verbally, then I’m your man.
What have I done lately?
I've run Social Media Workshops for swimwear brands and retail stores, I've written radio and print ads for car manufacturers, I've designed a logo and built a website for a new Pilates studio, I've advised a specialist builder on how best to develop their brand, I've shot a catalogue's worth of products, I've art directed music videos , I've written editorial pieces for magazines, I've developed a Social Media Strategy for an exciting new online business; I've started a social media movement and been featured on the ABC's Australian Story; and I've been the marketing manager for an International jeans manufacturer. |
